Genetic diversity and heterotic orientation of South Africa maize inbred lines towards tropical and temperate testers

An efficient hybrid breeding program defines and utilizes a few heterotic groups. Objectives of this study were to determine genetic diversity alignment South Africa maize inbred lines collection towards tropical temperate testers. Forty-four genotyped with 56,110 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. A total 40 crossed two line Due seed shortages, testcross hybrids containing 14 18 used in 2014/2015 2015/2016 seasons, respectively. Genotypes specific combining ability (SCA) effects significantly different (P < 0.05) for grain yield. There was weak correlation between molecular distances both yield mean performance SCA hybrids, indicating that productivity could not be reliably determined based on distances. The data classified these into three groups respect also indicated high level among the lines, which shown by dendogram SNP marker 11 clusters simplified major normal endosperm quality protein types. However, more aligned than This information would useful simplifying classification profound implications progress.
